Stephen Curry proved to the world today that he is now the greatest three point shooter that ever played the game of basketball. As the Warriors faced off in Madison Square against the New York Knicks, Curry made the record by surpassing Ray Allen and has now become the NBA’s 3 point shooter all-time leader.
The NBA star entered the game with the intention of wiping away the top seat as he was only two 3-pointers away from breaking the record. He shot the historic basket with 7 minutes left in the first quarter of the game, after coming from the right wing pass from Andrew Wiggins knocking out a 28-foot shot.
Quickly after following that, the Warriors called a foul and a time out to let Curry have his incredible moment, receiving hugs from his teammates and cheers from the audience. Steph then gave the ball to his father Dell Curry.
Curry is cemented in the history books shooting 2,974 3-pointer career points as he is now the all time leader in most threes made.
“It was thrilling to see Steph break the NBA’s all-time record for three-pointers,” said NBA commissioner Adam Silver. “He has revolutionized the way the game is played and continues to leave fans in awe with his amazing artistry and extraordinary shooting ability. We congratulate him on this historic achievement.”
“I can’t explain it,” says Dell Curry to ESPN. “And I played with and against Ray, played against Reggie [Miller], I know how great shooters those guys were, but to know my son’s going to leave the game being the best — he already is the best shooter ever to play, and have that record, it’s unbelievable.”
